Hubie de Burgh
has 38 years experience in the bloodstock industry having worked on
leading stud farms in Ireland, USA and Australia. He spent twenty years
developing the bloodstock interests of HH Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al
Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and UAE Minister of Finance in his role
as manager of Sheikh Hamdan’s, Derrinstown Stud and associated
farms in Ireland. He left Derrinstown Stud to set up his own stud farm
and bloodstock consultancy business in 2003.
During
his time with Sheikh Hamdan he started with two horses and was directly
associated with the purchasing or raising of many Group 1 winners including:
Al Bahathri – Champion 2YO in Ireland
Alhaarth – Chamption 2YO In Europe
Bahri – Champion Miler in Europe
Dayjur – Champion 3YO in Europe
Elnadim – Champion Sprinter in Europe
Lahib – Champion Older Horse in Europe

Nashwan – Champion 3YO colt in Europe
Salsabil – Champion 3YO filly in Europe
Shadayd – Champion 2YO in England
Also, the winners of 61 Group 1 races including 15
Classics and in Australia horses including Zabeel, Almaraad, At Talaq,
Jeune and many others.
Under
the banner of De Burgh Equine, Hubie has been responsible for the purchase
of All American, as a yearling, winner of the Group
1 Emirates Stakes at Flemington Park in Melbourne. Recent further
purchases as 2yos have included the following horses that went on be
Group performers:
Heatseeker
- Santa Anita H., Grade 1, and Hollywood Californian
Stakes, Grade 2
Tuscan Evening: Gamely H., Grade 1, as well
5 Grade 2 wins in USA including Santa Ana H., and 2nd

In
the USA Hubie de Burgh works closely with his brother's company, BSI
Management Inc. based in Rancho Santa Fe, California. This company specialises
in all aspects of the bloodstock industry including insurance. The majority
of De Burgh Equine clients' mares based in USA are boarded at Hill N
Dale Farm, one of the leading farms in Kentucky.
James
Harron joined De Burgh Equine
in 2008. He
comes from a strong family back ground in horse breeding and took an
interest at a very young age in the breeding and racing industry and
spent time working with some of the top racing and breeding yards in
the country.
After completing his education in Equine Business, James worked for
Paul Shanahan before taking up a position in Coolmore Australia.
He spent three months at Coolmore Australia before he accepted a position
as bloodstock assistant with leading trainer Gai Waterhouse. His position
required him working on the track, assisting in her office and during
the sales season James was an integral part of the team spending time
with renowned bloodstock judge George Smith.
After twelve months with Gai, James returned to take another position
at Coolmore Australia in the Nominations and Sales department. He spent
two years there selling nominations in 17 leading stallions and being
involved of the selling of 150 horses a year off the huge 9,000 acre
farm.
Fiona Goor is Office Manager, with fifteen years experience
working in the bloodstock industry having trained at Cirencester Agricultural
College, followed by a stint in Shadwell Studs pedigree department.
She then spent three years working in the Bloodstock and Marketing department
of William Inglis & Son, the leading Bloodstock Auctioneers in Australia
before joining Derrinstown Stud’s marketing and nominations department.
She
has been with De Burgh Equine since its setup in 2002. She also works
as the European Representative for AUSHORSE, the Australian body representing
the thoroughbred breeders of Australia promoting Australian breeding
and racing worldwide.
